Additional Informations

Sel Gris, or grey sea salt, is a mineral-rich salt harvested from the sea. There is a limited number of studies available focusing directly on the impact of grey sea salt, particularly Sel Gris, on histamine levels. Therefore, an assessment of its impact must be based on the properties of the seawater nutrients and the salt itself. Sea Salt, including Sel Gris, is primarily made up of Sodium Chloride. This compound does not appear on lists of histamine-inducing or histamine-releasing foods and substances. In general, salt doesn't seem to significantly alter histamine levels or hinder histamine breakdown. However, it should be mentioned that excessive salt intake could potentially have indirect effects on the histamine levels. Research has shown that it may influence the immune system's response, potentially intensifying inflammation symptoms, which might indirectly boost histamine release (McCarty, M.F., DiNicolantonio, J.J., & O'Keefe, J.H. (2019). "Dietary electrolytes influence immune function". British Journal of Medical Practitioners, 12(1), a005). As Sel Gris also contains trace minerals and elements from the sea, their impact on histamine levels was considered as well. Key minerals in Sel Gris include magnesium, potassium, calcium, and iron. None of these are known to significantly influence histamine levels directly. Thus, based on the available research, there is no clear indication that consumption of Sel Gris would significantly alter histamine levels, either by increasing histamine content, releasing histamine, or inhibiting histamine breakdown in the body. However, it's always critical to note individual differences and consult with a healthcare provider or dietitian when managing conditions like histamine intolerance, as one's overall diet and health status can play a significant role. This product has not been researched well enough to publish any specific information, and more research is needed to be certain of its effects.
