Additional Informations

Breadfruit, a tropical fruit rich in carbohydrates, fiber, and vitamins, belonging to the same family as jackfruit, figs, and mulberries, has been extensively consumed in the Pacific Islands and West Africa. However, its relation to histamine and histamine intolerance, particularly if high histamine, histamine-releasing, or histamine-lowering, is not clearly defined in the published scientific literature up to date. The general lack of research on breadfruit and histamine means that at this time, a definitive stance on the fruit's impact on histamine levels cannot be determined. It is essential to note that the impact of foods on histamine varies greatly due to the individual’s gut health and genetic composition. Common foods like tomatoes, fermented foods, aged cheeses, and certain beverages are reported to contain high histamine levels. Simultaneously, foods like strawberries, pineapples, citrus fruits, and additives may trigger histamine release even though they do not contain histamine. While some foods like pineapple and papaya are known to delay histamine breakdown, their effects on histamine in the body may not wholly relate to breadfruit. At present, more research into breadfruit is required before it can be definitively labeled as high histamine, histamine-releasing, or histamine-lowering. Our team is continuously monitoring available research and will provide updates as new information becomes available concerning the interaction between breadfruit and histamine levels.
