Additional Informations
Skittles Original, a popular candy, do not appear to contain any ingredients noted for having a high histamine content like red wine, aged cheese, or specific types of fish products. The primary ingredients for this product are sugar, corn syrup, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, fruit juice from concentrate, and less than 2% of citric acid, tapioca dextrin, modified corn starch, natural and artificial flavors, colors, and sodium citrate.
Despite the absence of high histamine content ingredients, Skittles do contain artificial colors and flavors which, although not directly related to histamine levels, have been linked to histamine release in some individuals. Histamine liberators like this could trigger or worsen symptoms in histamine-sensitive people.
However, since Skittles are not a major source of fruit-derived nutrients, one can argue that they are unlikely to significantly influence histamine levels, either by constituting high histamine content, delaying the breakdown of histamine, or liberating histamine.
Significantly substantial research is yet to be carried out on the direct impact of consuming Skittles Original on histamine levels, hence, no definitive conclusion can be made at this point. Therefore, "This product has not been researched well enough to publish any information, our team is working hard on this. Data will be available soon".
