Additional Informations

Almond milk is a popular plant-based alternative to cow's milk renowned for its light, nutty flavor and health benefits. Predominantly made of water and almonds, it contains a range of nutrients and is usually low in histamine, which can be beneficial for individuals with histamine intolerance. Certain studies suggest almonds by themselves have lower histamine content compared to other nuts. However, they are known to have histamine-releasing properties, which may lead to higher histamine levels in the body (Source: Mast Cell 360, 2018). In almond milk, however, the percentage of actual almonds is not usually high (often around 2% depending on the brand and variant). Hence, the extent of almond milk acting as a histamine liberator in individual cases will depend on person-to-person sensitivity. As for the potential histamine-lowering properties, limited research exists that investigates the direct effect of almond milk on histamine levels. However, almond milk can indirectly assist by providing essential nutrients like Vitamin B6 and Quercetin. Around 1 cup of almond milk can provide 4% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin B6, which plays a role in histamine breakdown and quercetin (found in trace amounts) may have anti-inflammatory and antihistaminic properties (Source: Department of Health & Human Services, Victoria, Australia). Therefore, almond milk does not seem to be rich in histamine or significantly affect its breakdown. However, it could potentially liberate some histamine due to the almonds, varying with individual histamine tolerance. It may also indirectly assist in lowering histamine levels through some of its nutrients. As this information is limited and generalized, the statement "This product has not been researched well enough to publish any specific information on its impact on histamine levels, our team is working hard on this. Data will be available soon" should be taken into consideration. References: 1. Mast Cell 360 (2018). Mast Cell 360 Low Histamine Foods List 2.
