Additional Informations
Grapeseed oil is derived from the seeds of grapes and has become a highly sought-after option for cooking due to its potency in linoleic acid and Vitamin E. But when considering its histamine impact, research to corroborate its direct effects on histamine levels remains limited and inconclusive.
While not necessarily synonymous to histamine, some oils like grapeseed oil are known to potentially influence inflammation in the body. Based on recent studies, grapeseed oil may have anti-inflammatory properties which might indirectly affect histamine levels, possibly alleviating symptoms of histamine intolerance by reducing overall inflammation. However, it is important to stress that more research is needed in this area to validate this claim (1).
Looking at the ingredients in grapeseed oil, it's essentially an extract of grape seeds. As grapes do not appear on high histamine lists, or as being histamine liberators, it's plausible to conclude that grapeseed oil wouldn't inherently cause an increase in histamine levels or release.
However, if the oil is old or oxidized, it might potentially provoke a reaction that liberates histamines or other mediators in allergic people. This is something to be aware of with all oils, not just grapeseed (2).
In conclusion, the consumption of grapeseed oil doesn't seem to inherently raise histamine levels or liberate more histamine. More comprehensive research is, however, necessary in this aspect to provide concrete evidence and complete understanding of how it interacts with histamine in the body.
