Additional Informations

Chlorella, a green algae rich in nutrients and beneficial compounds, is not listed directly among foods with high histamine content or as a histamine liberator. However, it is recognized for its detoxifying effects and its role in enhancing the immune system, which may indirectly impact histamine levels. One study found that Chlorella intake improved antioxidant status and modulated immune function in healthy humans (Miyazawa et al.,2018), which may suggest a potential role in mitigating histamine-related responses. However, there is currently no scientifically recognized direct link between eating Chlorella and lowering histamine levels. On the contrary, Chlorella contains large amounts of vitamin B12, which may affect histamine levels as it is needed for histamine synthesis. But again, this effect is not directly established, and the existing evidence is contradictory, suggesting both pro- and anti-histamine effects of Vit B12. In conclusion, it is possible that Chlorella may impact histamine levels due to its nutritional composition and effects on general health, but concrete evidence of this effect is lacking, indicating a need for comprehensive research.
