Additional Informations
Turnips, a type of root vegetable, have not been directly researched for their impact on histamine levels in the body. However, they are not listed among foods known to contain high levels of histamine, delay the breakdown of histamine, or act as histamine liberators. To further analyze, turnips are rich in dietary fibre, vitamin C, and essential minerals which are generally considered beneficial for overall health.
However, they do contain some Vitamin C, which is known to have a moderate antihistamine effect. Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, can lower histamine levels in the blood and has been shown to degrade histamine and block its effects (1). This could mean that regular consumption of turnips could potentially help to moderate histamine levels, though further research would be beneficial to confirm these effects.
It is important to note, individual reactions to foods can vary, and someone with a histamine intolerance may react differently to turnips.
